I’d forgotten all about this painting of the Little Blue Heron (Egretta caerulea) I kinda like it.

Apart from wishing to describe the species accurately with all appropriate field marks in place I  wanted to explore the idea of luminosity tied to a more formal design in the spirit of Japanese woodcut aesthetic.

I also wanted to tell the usual story of the species and It’s odd truce with Caymens, Alligators and such.

This painting is featured in our book 101+ Common Birds of Costa Rica, available on Amazon books in paperback and ebook versions and Apple Books in an ebook version.

So, since instagram not to mention most of the other social media platforms are disintegrating rapidly I thought I’d slip a current topic blog aspect into the website here.

It’ll mostly be about birds and bird paintings but there will be some subject wandering. Maybe the classical art stuff, birding, sailing and such.

Anyway, we’ll see how this rolls out.
